Our cabins are modern log structures, fully-carpeted with electric heat. We have 1 & 3 bedroom units, each with a sitting room and fireplace or woodburning stove, refrigerator and daily maid service. The Dude Ranch kitchen provides a varied menu of delicious cuisine, planned with your entire week in mind. We know many of you are becoming more health conscious, so we offer light fare along with hearty items at each meal. Because there are so many interesting things in our area that we want to share with you, we conduct mini lectures and exploratory outings. Together we will look into the vegetation, wildlife, geology and history of the surrounding area.

Horseback Riding

We have 60 horses and you will be assigned your own horse for the duration of your stay. We match the horse and rider according to ability, physical requirements and temperament. We emphasize teaching our guests how to ride well and how to enjoy horseback riding as a life-long sport. Rides are divided according to ability and advance through the various phases of equitation as rapidly as the progress of the rider allows. Individual instruction is available in the riding arena just about every day. We offer breakfast and sunset rides to an overnight pack trip.

Special Fall Programs

Improve your communications with any horse with our Horsemanship Clinic. Taught by noted western horseman and trainer Marty Marten. Limited Availability.
We also have a Cattle Roundup: help a local rancher find, gather and move hundreds of cattle from the high mountain summer pastures. Long, but rewarding days in the saddle. Experienced riders only. Limited Availability.

Snowshoeing has become increasingly popular over the last few years and many of our ranch guests enjoy it as much or more than the cross country skiing. Snowshoeing gives you the opportunity to get outside during the height of the snow season to see some spectacular new sites without the longer learning period associated with skiing. The trails are great for beginner and advanced snowshoeing enthusiasts.

Cross-country skiing

Winter at Latigo Dude Ranch is just as fun-filled as Summer and Fall. We have all sorts of activities, such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding/tubing. We are proud members of the Colorado Cross Country Ski Association and the Cross Country Ski Areas of America. To enhance your guest experience, skiing and other recreational activities are often conducted on part of thousands of acres under special use permit to Latigo in the Routt and Arapaho National Forests. Latigo Dude Ranch guests who have skied all over Colorado proclaim that Latigo offers some of the finest cross-country skiing available in Colorado.
We machine groom 50 km of track, covering varied terrain from flat beginning track to challenging advanced. All of our track is groomed for both classic and skating techniques. For backcountry or telemark aficionados, we are surrounded by over 200 square miles of deep powder in the National Forest.
Experienced Colorado skiers know this is where you find some of Colorado's best snow - for us, about 18 feet of it falls every year!

Our Dude Ranch is ideal for small group meetings. The location, high in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, encourages an especially creative atmosphere and truly productive sessions. We avoid mixing meeting groups with our regular family guests. Often meeting and conference groups can book the entire Dude Ranch for their exclusive use. Family Reunions

National Forest Permits

To enhance the guest experience, skiing and other recreational activities are often conducted on a permitted area of Routt and Arapaho national Forests.

Partial-week stays are accepted during the discount seasons listed above. These stays require a 3-day minimum with check-in on either Sunday or Wednesday. A deposit of 25% is required to confirm your reservation.

Taxes are 4.6% additional.

 Winter rates:  $175/adult/day and $105/child/day

Check-in / Check-out

Guest check in after 2:30pm and before 6:00pm on Sunday, and Checkout on Saturday, around 2pm. We encourage guests to stay through lunch on Saturday to get in that "last ride."

Deposit

An advance, non-refundable deposit of 25% is required to confirm a reservation.

Form of Payment

We will be happy to take a personal check, cash or travelers checks.

Cancellations

Cancellations made before 45 days of scheduled arrival will result in a refund of the deposit less a $75 per person cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 45 days of scheduled arrival will result in forfeiture of the entire deposit unless we can fill the vacated space. If we can fill the vacated space with some other guest, then the deposit will be refunded, less the $75 fee.
